“So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.”

This book, and this quote, were of great importance to me as I wrestled my way through adolescence. I, like many teens, had developed a desire for independence and yet I also longed (though I never would have told you) for connection and acceptance. Adolescence can hold some of the best times of life as teens start down paths that lead them to greatness in adulthood. It can also be confusing and overwhelming as they begin to form, and in some ways choose, their identity.  And what could be more stressful than trying to figure out who you are, who you want to be- all while finishing homework and being the best athlete/artist/friend/daughter/sister that you can be.  Teens are some of the most stressed individuals that come across my sofa and I find great value in helping them lower stress- all while entering into more meaningful relationships with their parents and friends.
